Three Rooms

These three rooms are located on one line, separated by 25 km each. One is in Vilnius, one is in Trakai, and one is in the countryside near Aukštadvaris. They all have their own story. The one in Vilnius was built in 1970-s, the second one in Trakai initially was in a SPA centre that opened after 2000, the third one is in a house of the 19-th century. My parents lived in the apartment for more than 50 years. When they bought a country house in the nineties, they were staying there during the warm season every year for three decades. Only a year ago the now-empty rooms were full of life. Life was good and it seemed that it would last forever. But nothing lasts forever. It suddenly changed during the autumn. Now the rooms stay eerily silent. My mother died of cancer. My father has it too and he is now too weak to live independently. He had to move to a care home in Trakai. To a new room. Probably his last room.
